I am thrilled to share that I have embarked on a significant study for the Austrian Federal Ministry of Labour and Economy, focusing on the State of Tourism Research in Austria. This study aims to map out the landscape of Austrian tourism research, which currently features a diverse array of research institutions and initiatives.

🔍 The Challenge: Despite Austria’s rich tapestry of tourism research, there’s a noticeable lack of clarity regarding which institutions are focusing on specific research areas. This has led to overlapping research fields, gaps in crucial areas of study, and a lack of forward-looking collaboration within the tourism and research community. The consequence? Hindered cooperative use of methodologies across various scientific disciplines, a critical element for interdisciplinarity.

🎯 Our Goal: Through this study, we intend to provide a comprehensive overview of Austria’s tourism research landscape. The aim is to bundle specialist knowledge, promote interdisciplinary activities, and create a fact-based foundation for tourism policy and the tourism industry in Austria to be able to focus tourism research in the best possible way.

I’m proud to lead this fascinating project, which not only aligns with my professional journey but also allows me to leverage my expertise in Machine Learning and Large Language Models (LLM) analysis.
🤝 In our first meeting with the ministry, I had the pleasure of discussing the current progress and next steps with Gerlinde Weilinger and Ulrike Rauch-Keschmann.

Stay tuned for more updates as we delve deeper into this journey of discovery and innovation in Austrian tourism research!
